The Senior Underwriting Consultant will independently perform accurate analysis and risk assessment to produce sound financial responses/products in a timely manner. S/He will provide superior service in support of writing Aetna's Medical business and will include interaction not only with internal constituents but also directly with plan sponsors, brokers, and consultants. Fundamental Components:· Negotiates and explains application of more complex underwriting concepts, rate/fee development and policies. · Produces accurate and timely deliverables while providing superior customer service in support of stated mission and key performance metrics. · Interact and meet with customers, brokers and consultants. · Anticipate customer needs, facilitate and negotiate using tact and diplomacy, and build strong cross-functional relationships with sales force and other internal organizations.· Utilizes advanced functionality of rating/ financial tools, reference materials, and source systems.· Negotiates and explains application of more complex underwriting concepts, rate/fee development and policies. · Produces accurate and timely deliverables while providing superior customer service in support of stated mission and key performance metrics.· Collaborates and shares information cross-functionally. · Mentors and coaches.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:· Minimum of 5+ years of experience in medical underwriting pricing methodologies (manual, experience, blended, alternate, etc.) and funding arrangements, ideally this candidate will have extensive experience in Self-Funding and Fully Insured.· Demonstrated exceptional analytical and independent thinking skills.· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, exhibiting the strong ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.· Ability to use standard corporate software packages and corporate applications.
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
