Working with the other actuaries on the team you will help support market actuarial functions and work on innovation projects by applying a combination of quantitative skills with strong interpersonal skills. A strong combination of soft skills (e.g. ability to work well in a team setting and with other departments) along with strong technical skills is essential to the long term success in this position. The position requires the ability to work independently with guidance and coaching from the team and the manager.

Fundamental Components:

Join the West Shared Services actuarial team directly supporting Aetna's Local & Regional Business in the West Region. Working on a shared services actuarial team will give you exposure to market level work when assisting the market teams when necessary as well as the opportunity to work on long term innovation projects. You will have exposure to all the core pricing functions including reserving, product development, pricing, medical management, underwriting, and sales strategy. Lines of business include the commercial segments of Small Group (both ACA and AFA), Large Group (both fully insured and AFA), and Public & Labor. In additional to strong analytical skills strong communication skills are desired as this position will require communication with a variety of people and departments.


Bachelor's degree along with 2+ year(s) work experience.

Minimum of 2 - 4 actuarial exams passed.

Proficient in Excel and knowledge of Microsoft Access, SAS/SQL is preferred.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work on a team is required.

Prior healthcare experience is desired.


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
