The Finance Internship is a ten-week internship that provides high-potential students with an opportunity to gain exposure to Aetna's finance organization, develop their financial acumen, and gain knowledge of the health care industry. Internship members will also collaborate with other Aetna interns on a capstone project, participate community service event, attend networking activities, and engage in training and development opportunities.
The Finance Internship is targeted to students interested in gaining a corporate view and learning about varied functions within the Finance organization of a Fortune Company. Members are placed into a summer role that may focus on analytics, systems, processes, or other areas. This internship serves as an entry point into the Financial Leadership Development Program (FLDP) which is a three-year rotational experience designed to develop high-potential finance talent into future finance leaders at Aetna.
Finance areas include but are not limited to: · Internal Audit · Tax · Performance Planning & Risk Management · Controllers & Accounting· Business Unit Finance · Corporate Finance · Treasury · Investment Management · Procurement Program start date: June 3rd, 2019Program end date: August 9th, 2019 Fundamental Components:· Successful completion of internship training and program-related activities · Progression through the internship role in accordance with developmental goals · Timely delivery of milestones related to the internship · Opportunity to interview for the Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP) Required Competencies: · Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written, and vertically within the organization.· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines· Strong analytical and problem resolution skills· Encourages teamwork and a positive environment to improve team effectiveness· Resourcefulness and ability to quickly and successfully adapt to change· Demonstrate a commitment to integrity, the Aetna code of conduct and respect for diversity Location Requirements: · Must be willing to relocate to one of our two main finance offices, Hartford, CT or Phoenix, AZ for the summer· Summer housing coordination and stipend may be provided to those that qualify· Interest in full-time position within FLDP upon graduation and mobility for FLDP rotations (Hartford, CT and Phoenix, AZ and other US locations) Background/Experience desired:· Related business/internship experience (preferably within Health Insurance, Accounting, or Finance fields) · Currently pursuing a four-year Bachelors Degree in Business (preferably in Finance or Accounting but will consider other quantitative majors such as Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics or Engineering) · 3.0+ GPA preferred · Rising senior preferred· Microsoft Excel coursework/experience a plus · Interest in corporate finance and learning broad foundational finance functions; and an interest in pursuing a role in Aetna's Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP).
