Lead/manage cross functional projects in support of strategic and operating plan goals and efficiencies across plans at the line of business level. Provide peer review and oversight for plan support actuarial team as needed as well as leadership on select projects spanning several sites and involving non-actuarial audiences. Negotiate and influence sound business decisions by adhering to established risk management principles. Anticipate and recognize matters that materially affect financial results and make sound, unbiased reports on these matters. Participate on work groups/ forums representing Aetna to external constituents. Functionally may include oversight of forecasting and reserving for regional actuaries as well as new market and business development support.
Fundamental Components included but are not limited to:
Leadership: Management of Resources- Lead/manage projects established to support goals identified in strategic and operating plans and that bring efficiencies and best practices from individual market support to the line of business level while coordinating with non-actuarial teams and audiences. Influence/motivate resources within and outside of direct control to complete projects. Exhibit innovative use of resources.
Product & Business Knowledge: Medicaid experience is not necessary while actuarial healthcare experience and exposure to forecasting, reserving and valuation of clinical initiatives is necessary as well as experience working on cross functional teams and presenting to senior non-actuarial audiences. This position is a high visibility strategic role with line of business impact and opportunity to define priorities and timelines to fit needs or organization and highest opportunity for impact. This position will be involved in all national Medicaid products and markets and not limited by any specific geography or product type and will rely on work and actuarial reviews of regional actuarial teams. Good teamwork skills and experience in working in dynamic environment is necessary. This position will provide oversight for some reserving functions and interaction with dedicated actuarial valuation and finance teams.
Qualifications Requirements and Preferences:
Bachelor's Degree along with 7+ years related healthcare work experience.
Must be an ASA or FSA and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
No experience with Medicaid is necessary but experience with forecasting, reserving, team and project management and communication with non-actuarial audiences is necessary.
This position will not have direct reports but will imply use of actuarial resources across entire Medicaid actuarial team on specific projects.
Experience working in dynamic environment and desire to own and create new processes with cross functional teams is preferred.
