POSITION SUMMARY

Acts in a work lead capacity within a specific functional area of operation. Monitors the daily workflow and production of a functional team while performing their own daily duties. Assists in resolving workflow issues and more complex processing issues.

Fundamental Components:

Perform the fundamental components within a functional area of responsibility which may include;

  • Assess the workflow and/or workload of team or functional area to insure the timely processing

  • Make adjustments and recommendations regarding workflow to staff and management as necessary

  • Facilitate the implementation of new programs and enhancements

  • Facilitate problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Escalate issues to supervisor and/or manager as necessary Interact effectively with team members and other departments to achieve business goals

  • Coaches team members by providing training, direction and guidance on standard operating procedures

  • Researches, resolves, and documents prior authorization outcomes on designated systems

  • Assesses training needs within the team serves as a training resource, mentor, and coach to others, particularly new hires.

  • Identifies and shares best practices.

  • Demonstrates, advocates, and reinforces a positive team environment, professionalism, and the need to present a positive image of the company when interacting with customers.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and off-shifts as required. 1-2 years experience in Insurance Prior Authorization, Medicare guidelines or hospital pharmacy as a team lead preferred or equivalent related experience leading a team in a production environment.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years experience in retail, hospital, or facility pharmacy required.

  • Proficiency in computerized pharmacy systems and software applications required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to follow clinical criteria and instructions

  • Experience with Windows-based software applications.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Associate's degree or equivalent experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Pharmacy/Pharmacy Technician is desired
