The Clinical Product Development (CPD) organization is responsible for optimizing Aetnas existing clinical product portfolio around Aetna Community Care for all lines of business. CPD is also responsible for aligning future product and service design with the Aetna Health roadmap and customer needs within each business segment.
This position is responsible for the central coordination of activities and communications; ensuring timely flow of information to and from the CPD office. Represents the CPD office with internal and external stakeholders; leads cross-functional teams in support of strategic initiatives. Facilitates the development of strategic and operational business plans. Oversees high priority or special projects as directed. Responsible for providing analysis, guidance and direction within areas of expertise. Anticipates, escalates and solves management and business problems independently.
Manages the CPD office including the information and material flow in and out of the office
Engages directly with key internal and external stakeholders; including representing the VP, Clinical Product Development as needed
Develop and facilitate execution of the executive's agenda, acting as a liaison with internal business leaders
Facilitates the research, preparation and communication of strategic and operational business plans; coordinates activities that support the annual budgeting process
Monitor and prepare report outs on performance relative to plans
Stimulate strategic thinking in support of business direction
Interprets strategic concepts and other information with notable complexity when developing executive level communications (documents, presentations, e-mails, speeches)
Develops relationships with external constituents and cross-functional team members in support/execution of strategic initiatives.
Leads high priority or special projects that require tight coordination with the CPD office that are strategic in nature and impact the broader organization
Coordinate the development, content and follow-up for senior level meetings and events with key stakeholders, including staff meetings, operational reviews and off site meetings
Handle initial meetings with outside parties for screening purposes or as a representative of the executive
Identifying issues and triaging them, providing resolution where possible
Ensures the CDP office is connected with and coordinates activities such as town hall meetings, executive site visits, board meetings and employee communications which are being driven or hosted by the respective portfolio business
Drives the agenda setting process and meeting execution for CPD senior leadership gatherings
Effectively manages organization's resources (e.g., staff, expenses, capital, assets)
Ensure CPDs processes and procedures are aligned appropriately to Clinical Service s & Joint Venture Markets (CS&JVM)
Take on interim assignments, including filling critical gaps in a functional area as needed
Displays a high degree of judgment, discretion and confidentiality; must handle material information appropriately at all times.
Masters degree or MBA preferred
6+ years leadership experience and technical/functional expertise in several of the following areas: health care management consulting, health care/health plan management, financial analysis, project management, operations management and/ or marketing.
Demonstrates effective business acumen and strategic thinking.
Makes effective decisions that achieve business goals and objectives.
Experience with cross-functional initiatives, matrix organizations with a moderate to high degree of complexity.
Demonstrated experience developing documents, presentations and support material to successfully implement strategy or change initiatives.
Demonstrated relationship management skills at all levels within an organization and external constituents.
Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Office; developing complex presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Excellent oral, written, presentation and communications skills.
Confident and able to be influential and assertive.
Ability to influence diverse teams and build strong relationships.
Ability to support a high paced agenda.
Ability to work independently
Ability to make sound independent decisions
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
