Aetna UM Nurse Consultant in Hartford, Connecticut

This is a full time position within business hours Monday through Friday. To service west coast customers, nurses will be required to work 2-3 times a quarter until 9:00 PM ET after training. Saturday work is required after 6 months of training - 1-2 Saturdays per quarter can be expected in order to meet federal and state regulated turn around times.


Utilizes clinical skills to coordinate, document and communicate all aspects of the utilization/benefit management program within the HealthCare Vertical Team.

Fundamental Components:

Reviewing services to assure medical necessity

Applying clinical expertise to assure appropriate benefit utilization

Facilitate safe and efficient discharge planning

Work closely with facilities and providers to meet the complex needs of the member


3+ years of clinical experience required

Managed Care experience preferred


The minimum level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Associate's degree or equivalent experience.


Nursing/Registered Nurse is required

Nursing/Certified Case Manager (CCM) is desired


Functional - Nursing/Clinical coverage and policies/1+ Years

Functional - Nursing/Concurrent Review/discharge planning/1+ Years


Technical - Desktop Tools/Microsoft Outlook/1+ Years/End User
