Aetna s Commercial Business Northeast Middle Market Underwriting renewal team is looking for a dynamic, dedicated Sr Underwriting Consultant to join the team. The Senior Underwriting Consultant will support renewal business with case sizes ranging from 51 – 3000 lives. The role will independently perform accurate analysis and risk assessment to produce sound financial responses/products in a timely manner while providing superior customer services in support of the stated mission and key performance metrics. As a Sr Underwriting Consultant, an individual will have the responsibility to analyze health benefit plan characteristics and assess risks as to frequency and potential severity of losses of clients. Collaborating with Sales and Service partners, the Underwriting Consultant will work to help set strategies to balance the needs of the plan sponsor and Aetna. The Sr Underwriting Consultant will evaluate and recommend alternative pricing options and plan design changes based on economic analysis and trends. This individual will also prepare financial modeling for reserve calculation, budget calculation, and other ongoing reviews that directly aligns with client strategies. They will validate renewals and request for proposals for accuracy including utilization & experience reporting. BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:· 3+ years of pricing experience via all types of medical pricing methodologies (manual, experience, blended, alternate, etc.) and funding arrangements. Fully insured, Self Funded, ASO/ASC. · Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills.· Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management· Proven ability to anticipate customer needs.· Proven exceptional ability to facilitate and negotiate using tact and diplomacy.· Outstanding ability to build strong cross-functional relationships with sales force and other internal organizations. EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
