Aetna s Government Services Actuarial and Underwriting organization has a Senior Underwriting Consultant opportunity available. This role will have a direct impact to help drive membership and earnings for the growing Government Services organization and continue to develop Aetna's Medicare Advantage products. As part of the Government Services Actuarial and Underwriting organization, the candidate will supports the Group Medicare sales process by performing accurate underwriting analysis and risk assessment for complex new and/or renewal cases.

Fundamental Components of a Medicare Senior Underwriter Consultant:
-Serves as a consultant for field sales and account management on strategic large employer groups.
-Calculates complex renewal and prospective group rates using solid product knowledge and underwriting protocols.
-Diagnoses product offering situations and makes strategic recommendations for benefit designs and pricing positions.
-Grants underwriting exception and financial variances within prescribed dollar limits.
-Negotiates and fully explains rate development, pricing components, and application of underwriting policies.
-Presents information to employers and brokers in support of business rating practices.
-Ensures the quality and integrity of account-specific data and information released to the sales force.
-Utilizes advanced functionality of rating/financial tools, reference materials, and source systems for premium, membership, andclaim information.
-Analyzes competitive position on a case specific basis and develops financial comparisons.
-May lead process improvement initiatives.
5-7 years experience in underwriting/accounting pricing methodologies and funding arrangements.
Demonstrated success prioritizing work and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated excellent ability to utilize analytical and independent thinking skills.
Demonstrated success in collaborating with others to meet/exceed expectations.
Experience providing clear and concise written and verbal communications.
Experience working with standard Microsoft Office products.
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Position is open to Part-time Telework (3 days office-based). Option for telework will be evaluated after a certain period of employment.
