POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Finance Talent Strategy is a critical role in the Finance organization, requiring a Finance and Talent leader with passion for enabling human capital to contribute to business competitiveness and growth. The individual will drive a progressive and cost-effective talent strategy that elevates Finance to a world-class organization. Fundamental Components:

Develops multi-year talent strategy in partnership with senior leadership: The incumbent will be a passionate, visionary leader who closely partners with the Finance leadership, HR, and other key stakeholders to develop the Finance Talent Strategy and ensure the achievement of its operating and strategic objectives. The leader will build and empower high-performance teams and create a strong collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.

Oversees executive-led talent priority teams: The leader will provide active consultation to four Executive-led teams of volunteers who drive the execution of the Talent Strategy Priority Initiatives. These teams are essential to the advancement of the recruitment, onboarding, development, mobility, well-being, engagement, retention and manager effectiveness of a diverse and inclusive world-class organization.

Leads marketing and communication of talent strategy: The leader will regularly recommend priorities, develop briefing materials and participate in talent-focused sessions with the CFO and Executive Team. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring an effective talent communications strategy and execution, both internally and externally.

Directs three pipeline leadership programs: The incumbent will also have responsibility for the continued success and elevation to world-class recognition of the Finance Leadership Programs aimed at accelerating the readiness of high-potential, diverse and inclusive Finance talent. He/she will lead three significant and highly-selective pipeline programs. Responsibilities include recruiting, identifying impactful rotations, balancing business and individual development needs in rotation placements, selective advancement, impactful career development activities, regular coaching and feedback, mentorships, collaboration with and coaching of participants managers, and achievement of challenging metrics of success.

Oversees cross-enterprise talent strategy execution: The leader will be responsible for the Finance Talent Strategy and execution across segments, functions and companies within the enterprise, including if the company grows organically or inorganically.

The leader will perform other duties as needed.

The position reports into the Executive Sponsor of the Talent Strategy for Finance currently the CFO of the Institutional Business, a direct report to the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Enterprise Risk Officer of Aetna.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

  • 20+ years of Finance and leadership experience in a Fortune 50 company/companies; Executive experience a plus

  • Demonstrated passionate commitment to assisting the executive team in developing a world-class Finance organization.

    *Willing to commit 5+ years to establish long-term impact and legacy

  • Strong adaptability and quick resilience

  • Knowledge of current and future skills/competencies required for excellence in Finance/business roles and career paths

  • Ability to align skills to roles and understand where the opportunity exists to push talent into challenging roles

  • Demonstrated effective management in multiple, varying Finance management roles with attracting, developing, rewarding, compensating, coaching, career mentoring, training and retaining a diverse and inclusive workforce

  • High trust and confidence of Finance executive leaders in a Fortune 50 company/companies

    *Onboarding leadership and/or management training/conference experience for large organizations, a plus

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred.
