POSITION SUMMARY Aetna Analytics & Behavior Change (ABC) mandate is to transform health and wellness through data analytics & machine learning products that enable consumer engagement and a best-in-class experience. This team is responsible for building data products, involving real time ingestion frameworks, data pipelines to process large volumes of poly structure data, and model deployment; as well as the envisioning strategic data roadmap and execution of the roadmap. A key part of this team is to build an integrated data platform and supporting products to drive engagement and revolutionize health and wellness.Aetna ABC is looking for a Principal Data Engineer to join our team in Hartford, CT. In this role, you will provides strategic leadership for the design, data modeling, testing and delivery of large scale data structures and pipelines for complex data products and processes. Acts as the data engineering team lead for highly complex projects involving multiple resources and tasks, providing individual mentoring in support of company objectives. Position will have specific project responsibilities as well as acting in a consulting capacity for other initiative in Analytics & Behavior Change. Fundamental Components:· Consults with internal clients to identify opportunities to implement data science solutions to business problems at an advanced level· Collaborates with business partners to understand their problems and goals, and to translate those goals into requirements and a suggested solution· Ability to structure data and data models, driving analytics insights and analytical solutions to help data scientists determine the best analytical solution· Ability to architect end to end solutions and participate in the implementation of the solution; involves socialization and engagement with Aetna s technology leaders as well as other stakeholders· Acts as thought leader to provide data model design consultation to Analytics & Behavior Change projects· Develop frameworks, standards & reference material for architecture and associated products· Experiments with available tools and advises on new tools in order to determine optimal solution given the requirements dictated by the model/use case· Applies knowledge of systems and products to consult and advise on additional efforts across organization/enterprise· Collaborate with stakeholders and document projects artifacts including business objectives, data needs, function specifications, test requirements and SLAs· Understands key drivers of business value and able to translate into business opportunities and frame them as analytical problems· Mentors more junior team members· Shares insights across teams· Reviews work of more junior team membersBACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:· 10 or more years of progressively complex related experience· 4 years of business experience leading analyses and initiatives with track record of business impact · Expert experience designing complex, enterprise-wide data transformation and processing solutions· Expert knowledge of modeling techniques · Proven ability to work across multiple facets across multiple projects, ability to prioritize objectives, communicate clearly to all the stakeholders · Highly motivated with strong business analytic sense and the ability to create innovative solutions· Experience working in an agile environment, and demonstrates good written & verbal communication and presentation skills with technical & business teams· Superior collaboration and communication skills within and across teams· Strong problem solving skills and critical thinking ability · Healthcare sector experience required
