This is an exciting opportunity located in Hartford, CT to be part of the Shared Services General Accounting team. Aetna is in the midst of a finance transformation and opportunities to improve processes and have an influence on the direction of the company abound. The creation, analysis and reporting of financial information on both a GAAP and regulatory basis used to support both management decision making and/or communication to internal or external stakeholders and/or regulatory constituents, as well as the setting and maintaining of accounting and internal control related policies.

Fundamental Components:

  • Prepare more complex accounting entries;

  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by others;

  • Identify and interpret new reporting and disclosure requirements;

  • Provide accurate and timely financial analysis;

  • Support financial statement schedules;

  • Coordinate accounting matters with other departments and locations;

  • Research, analyze, and proactively seek solutions to existing/new processes;

  • Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned.


  • 3-5 year of experience in reporting financial information for both GAAP and regulatory.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated individual comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to look beyond the numbers.

  • Strong Excel and technical skills.


Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Prefer Bachelor or Maters degree in Accounting/Business
