POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for operations and the central coordination of activities and communications; ensuring timely flow of information to and from the Achieving Business eXcellence (ABX) office. Represents ABX with internal/external stakeholders; leads cross-functional teams supporting strategic initiatives. Facilitates development of strategic and operational business plans. Oversees high priority or special projects as directed. Provides analysis, guidance, direction within areas of expertise. Anticipates, escalates, solves management and business problems independently. This role is also responsible for development and execution of the communications strategy for Aetna s ABX function. Working directly with the executives responsible for ABX and their senior leadership team, the Director will develop and execute primarily internal, select external communications strategies that engage employees in ABX and enterprise-wide at Aetna.Requires a strong ability to be a thought partner to senior executives as well as colleagues across the Communications function to ensure alignment of strategies. RESPONSIBILITIES OPERATIONSBuild, oversee high level ABX Business System deployment project plan, integration of plan with current continuous improvement (CI) roadmapsCreate strategic alignment across all ABX stakeholdersFacilitate alignment on key components and strategy for ABX deployment and current program activitiesDriving adoption of CI principles via specific actions required and associated lean leadership behaviorsAbility to measure program effectiveness, actively reviewing results, making adjustments to improve efficacyMetrics; identify intended outcomes, measures of successOrganizing, monitoring inter-connected projectsDevelop comprehensive communication, deployment playbooks based on standards to be shared with ABX leads and stakeholders at all levelsOwn strategic alignment of continuous improvement standards across all ABX COMMUNICATIONS Liaison to Aetna Corporate Communications, and all ABX Nation activity coordinators (ABX meetings, town halls, lunch & learns, etc.) and business-specific communications leadersDevelop communication strategies using best practices, innovative ideas and audience insightIntegrate strategies, connect the dots between messages, timing and activities being carried out by other communication professionalsSeamlessly, expertly execute communication plansIdentify, resolve communication needs for complex technical, operational or organizational problemsSets priorities for or with project teams, including developing and delivering communication plans and supporting necessary workAlign business-specific communication efforts with overall Aetna communications messages, goalsEnsure that all communications are error-free, accurate, appropriately approved and consistent with Aetna s core valuesUnderstand, support the Aetna brandUnderstand how communications solutions will support Aetna s ability to succeed PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSAbility to build relationships and partner with senior executivesProject management experienceLean continuous improvement experienceAbility to interact at all levels including with senior leadershipStrong communications background and skillsAbility to take concepts and drive them into realized, meaningful actions that will enable the cultural change to one of proactive problem solvingExperience developing and executing successful communication programs for large businessesExperience writing and editing various forms of communicationAbility to create opportunities to increase audience awareness and understanding of core messages CRITICAL SKILLSProject managementOrganization, prioritization (Lean Six Sigma training/experience, continuous improvement)Effectively managing multiple projects with multiple stakeholders in a highly matrixed environmentAbility to collaborate with and influence key decision makersStrong writing, editing and presentation skillsEffective team player with proven ability to work with business leadersAbility to handle high level confidential matters with discretion and professionalismCommitment to quality while being able to prioritize and excel in a fast paced environment EDUCATIONBachelor s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English or a related field.
