Has comprehensivetechnical knowledge of all phases of application systems analysis andprogramming. Under general direction, has duties of instructing, directing, andchecking the work of other systems analysis and programming personnel.Formulates and defines system scope and objectives for assigned projects.Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computerequipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desiredresults. Responsible for program and application design, coding, testing,debugging, and documentation. Acts as expert in business applications and/orcross functional areas. Responsible for directing and monitoring the work ofteam members. May be responsible for project completion and user satisfaction.

Fundamental Components:

Review application architecture and designs, and apply cost effectiveapplication program solutions.

Code and Unit Test when needed & opportunity arises.

Leads translation of business requirements to technical specifications.

Technical contributor in the design of new applications and/or enhancementsincluding integration of purchased solutions in accordance with Enterprise widestrategy.

Works closely with technical partners to coordinate and plan ongoing andscheduled system maintenance activities and assists other team members whoperform ongoing system maintenance, research, problem resolution and supporttasks for existing systems.

Efficiently utilizes the prescribed methodology in a disciplined manner, whichmay include the execution of key technical reviews at project gates and/ormilestones. Anticipates, analyzes, and reacts to the potential impact changesto technology and/or products may have on the business and the computingenvironment.

Oversees/Coordinates the completion of unit testing, integration and systemtesting, according to test plans to ensure high-quality systems. Assistsbusiness partners with User Acceptance Testing.

Independently supports the implementation of systems into production, includingintegration of purchased solutions.

May set direction for CAM/DevSecOps for an application or set of applications.Supports and ensures the reuse of assets across the organization.

Leads or acts as a key subject matter expert for all or portions of the set ofapplications aligned with a sub-domain or domain.

Serves as team leader to direct technical activities (including analysis,planning, architecture, design, development, testing, installation, andmaintenance of support systems for business areas).

Acts as a knowledge source for following application developmentstandards.

Apply industry wide understanding of technology, tools and methodologies toassist in developing solutions on projects of strategic significance. Evaluateand identify issues and constraints pertaining to technology approach;coordinate evaluation of solutions to insure adherence to technology standards(such as security, database, etc.)

Ensures technology remains at current levels for enterprise tools andoperational upgrades.

Needs a basic understanding of vendor contract stipulations for outsourcingagreements.


  • 5+ years of MPP,distributed computing design & development, with understanding ofalgorithms, data structures, and security protocols

  • Excellent knowledge of Hadoop integration points with enterprise assets outsideHadoop

  • Well versed with healthcare analytics and corresponding data sources : Claim, Rx, Lab, etc.

  • Experience with a version control system (e.g., GitHub), issue/problem trackingsystem (e.g., Jira), team collaboration software (e.g., Confluence), andcontinuous integration environments (e.g., Jenkins).

  • Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning services and applications.Understanding of systems capacity, bottlenecks, and basics of memory, CPU, OS,storage, and networks.

  • Ensure the team has appropriate design andtechnical specifications to deliver high quality products.

  • Showed support and contributions to the continual evolution of a product visionand overall road map.

  • Show s reliability, self-motivation, andability to focus on high quality delivery of work products with a willingnessto accept responsibility and accountability.

  • Exposure to Hadoop cluster management, performance optimization, benchmarking,and monitoring tools

  • Providing technical guidance to software team members. Worked closely withmanagement to ensure a smooth delivery/transition process.

  • Skills:

  • Hadoop (Hortonworks distribution preferred)

  • HDFS

  • Hive, HQL, SQL, Pig

  • Sqoop

  • MapReduce/TEZ

  • Spark, Shell Scripting

  • Proficiency using at least one high-level programming language (Java(preferred), C++, etc.)

  • Proficiency using Python, Scala

  • Big Integrate (nice to have)

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
