POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility within this position is to identify medical cost trend drivers and isolate opportunities to favorably impact medical costs. This role will require creating reports or presentations as necessary and the candidate will need to be able to articulate results in a clear, concise and compelling way that aligns with the customers strategy to a wide range of audiences.

Fundamental Components:

The Plan Sponsor Insights Reporting and Analytics team is searching for a customer-facing Sr. Business Consultant to perform detailed medical cost analysis for some of Aetnas largest self-insured plan sponsors. This role requires a detailed technical understanding of the Aetna data warehouse and the ability to thoughtfully run, manipulate and analyze large amounts of medical cost and clinical data. The primary responsibility within this position is to identify medical cost trend drivers and isolate opportunities to favorably impact medical costs. This role will require creating reports or presentations as necessary and the candidate will need to be able to articulate results to a wide range of audiences including customers and consultants. The individual in this position will conduct weekly and monthly analytic reviews with a cross functional team and must be able to meet multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the healthcare industry including benefit plans, strong technical and communication skills and be able to work in a face-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Minimum of 5 years experience performing complex healthcare analytics.

In depth knowledge of healthcare financial concepts.

Strong technical skills in Excel, Access, PowerPoint required. SAS/SQL knowledge a plus.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). - Excellent independent worker in addition have a strong ability to work well in a team environment.

EDUCATION:

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
