POSITION SUMMARY

Technical Leads are Underwriters who operate at a mastery level and are considered technical experts. They may be involved in training, projects, and mentoring others. Works primarily on complex or high visibility cases, markets or underwriting methods. Supports Underwriting Managers as backup.

Fundamental Components:

This position is for the Central Underwriting Territories book of business. The candidate must have extensive pricing experience and know the systems that support these arrangements. In addition, the proven ability to: anticipate customer needs, facilitate and negotiate using tact and diplomacy, and build strong cross-functional relationships with sales force and other internal organizations. Negotiates and explains application of more complex underwriting concepts, rate/fee development and policies. Produces accurate and timely deliverables while providing superior customer service in support of stated mission and key performance metrics.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Ability to work effectively with customers (internal and external) to meet their needs as well as Aetna's.

Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.

Ability to use standard corporate software packages and corporate applications.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Functional - Underwriting/Pricing methodologies (manual, experience, blended, alternate, etc.)/7-10 Years

Functional - Underwriting/Rating methodologies and/or functions (rating and accounting)./7-10 Years

Functional - Underwriting/Renewal - group medical/7-10 Years

Functional - Underwriting/New business - group medical/7-10 Years
