POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for Group Disability Pricing, Forecasting and Expense Analysis. Aetna sells both insured and ASC LTD, STD and Leave Products throughout the United States.

Fundamental Components:

Group Disability is one of Aetna's most dynamic product lines, and the actuarial unit is integral to its success. Responsibilities include: Manage risk and enhance profitability for Aetna's Disability business through pricing, product development, financial analysis & forecasting, and underwriting guideline evaluation. Provide large case pricing support to Underwriting. Develop quarterly financial forecasting updates. Conduct expense studies as part of the annual retention review. Provide actuarial support for special projects including new products such as New York Paid Family Leave. Conduct experience studies to support manual rate review, including area factor and industry factor updates. Will perform studies as well as oversee implementation of new factors. This includes coordinating rate filings, communication with Underwriting and Sales, and updates to the rating models, as necessary. Collaborate with multiple functional areas including Sales, Underwriting, Finance, Operations, Product and Legal for ideal results.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Bachelor's degree

Prior Group Disability Experience highly preferred

ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) is required

Ability to effectively communicate complex analytical topics to all levels of leadership

Superior analytical skills are required; problem solving ability is critical to success

Able to thrive in a constantly changing environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Actuarial/Associate of the Society of Actuaries is required

Actuarial/Member of the American Academy of Actuaries is desired
