POSITION SUMMARY

The VP, Market Executive Director will be accountable for the Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia markets. The incumbent will provide strategic direction and leadership to sales and network teams to achieve market goals for assigned business, customer segments, products, and services in support of profitable growth.

The role reports directly to the Mid-Atlantic Territory Coach and PA/DE/WV Market President and is located in Pittsburgh, PA

Fundamental Components:

  • Sets, communicates, and executes operational strategy and performance measures in line with company, segment, region and market goals.

  • Manages local sales, account management, and network teams; responsible for driving new distribution strategies and rigorous financial management.

  • Responsible for P & L and manages to deliver on expected business results.

  • Develops, implements and translates organizational strategies that align to market strategies

  • Analyzes competitive environment to support and improve pricing, underwriting, and product development strategies as well as sales and service efforts.

  • Cultivates strong relationships externally including brokers, providers, government organizations and regulatory/legislative representatives.

  • Maintains accountability for specific medical cost initiatives to achieve target medical/Rx trend results with focus on network price/synergies, scoreable actions and medical cost management initiatives.

  • Supporting and driving activities to support Public and Labor, Medicare Advantage, as well as the commercial pieces.

  • Provides leadership and development to build a strong, high performance team (both for direct reporting functions and matrix partners)

  • Provides comprehensive understanding of hospital and physician financial issues and how to leverage technology to achieve quality and cost improvements for both payers and providers.

  • Oversees the geographic portfolio developing and implementing plans to optimize geographic markets.

  • Ensures achievement of sales and membership growth goals.

  • Develops and maintains knowledge of the business and anticipates/plans for investments needed to reshape the business to meet emerging market needs.

  • Provides comprehensive understanding of hospital and physician financial issues and how to leverage technology to achieve quality and cost improvements for both payers and providers.

  • Manages provider compensation/reimbursement and pricing development activities for understanding and managing medical cost issues and initiating appropriate action.

  • Builds strong collaboration and demonstrate effective influencing skills with critical matrix partners across Underwriting, Actuary, Finance, Product, HCM/Clinical, Compliance, Marketing, Medical Economic Unit and Service.

  • Monitors market conditions to identify and implement shifts in strategic direction as needed.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

  • Prior payor experience leading either market sales or network teams required.

  • Payor experience developing and executing strategy to grow products and services.

  • Proven track record leading integrated teams and successful execution in a matrix environment.

EDUCATION

Minimum of Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advance degree is preferred.
