The Lead Business Consultant partners with executive sponsors, business owners and Aetna;s ABX Core Team to design, project manage and implement enterprise wide solutions to large scale business problems whose impact often results in a significant degree of change to the organization. Sets strategic direction for project teams, coordinates across functional areas and ensures expected timeline deliverables remain on track to deliver. Effectively communicates status to senior leadership in concise and impactful ways both in written and verbal form. In this critical role, the Lead Business Consultant is responsible for leading/managing all aspects of a project and/or program such as planning, coordination, development, implementation including the financial implications while prioritizing work, resources and time within and across organizational lines. This individual acts in a highly collaborative manner and often requires the managing relationships and influencing senior leadership across various business segments or multiple functional areas.

Fundamental Components:

  • Member of the Institutional Business ABX Project Management Office (PMO). Promotes the use and understanding of Lean/Six Sigma tools and methods to solve operational problems and improve the customer experience. - Responsible for overall project management of assigned large scale (end to end) business project. This includes but is not limited to establishing scope and charter, creating business and financial case for change, identifying critical to success project team members, working with business to identifying customer requirements, planning, coordination, development, implementation including the financial implications while prioritizing work, resources and time within and across organizational lines. - Drives or guides development of holistic solutions and/or key strategic plans. Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement, continuous improvement, and independently influences business leader(s) including the most senior level, to act or change behavior through negotiation and/or consultation. - Communicates compelling and concise results to empower business owner in decision making process regarding project opportunities. - Drives change in order to improve performance results, organization effectiveness and/or systems/quality/services (e.g. policies, processes or systems). Identifies gaps in processes or organization and challenges self and others to develop and implement solutions. - Fully integrates baseline and metrics tracking into initiative planning and execution for optimal results. Shares joint accountability for initiatives return on investment. - Ensures engagements are consistently managed using a disciplined repeatable methodology. Provides oversight to or drives initiative planning as required. - Facilitates diverse internal and external networks, as appropriate, for data gathering and best practice identification. - Leverages internal and external networking to drive optimal initiative results and knowledge/best practice transfer


    Experience in insurance or service business preferred. Experience with strategic cross-functional large scale initiatives with high degree of complexity. Experience in Process Management, Continuous Improvement, Project Management, Business Consultation in one or more of the following disciplines a plus: sales & client management, operations, case installation, network & provider, product development, underwriting Demonstrated experience implementing change


    The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.


    Project Management/Six Sigma Certification: Green Belt is desired
