The Director is the thought leader, subject matter expert and manager responsible for leading development of a business partnership with the Government Program lines of business. Working as a collaborator and trusted advisor with Medicare, Medicaid and Federal marketing and business leads (including senior management), discusses issues, offers POVs and/or solutions, and proactively provides relevant insights to address strategic priorities and impact decision-making and future direction through information-based collaboration and recommendations. The Director is a Planner; an advocate for engaging holistically in the business, representing the voice of the consumer/customer and possessing deep curiosity and the ability to instill that in those they manage for continuous learning & professional development. They are the expert through background, training, experience, and attitudes, at working with information and getting it used - not just marketing research but all the information available to help solve marketing and business challenges. A key focus of the Director is to ensure their direct reports provide high quality actionable insights; relevant resources are brought to bear, synthesized and delivered in an accurate, meaningful manner telling a cohesive and compelling story that provides the So What? to drive business decisions.
As Leader of in Enterprise Intelligence the Director translates business issues into research solutions, manages and guides direct reports in the development of the research plan/learning agenda covering strategic and tactical issues and in creation of results read outs. They successfully direct multiple, often complex, assignments in parallel to deliver results on time and to client expectations. Ensures collaboration between the businesses and their team. The Director is recognized for broad and deep market research/planning skill, industry domain expertise, and the skillset to manage/coach staff, oversee research programs, and support budget and other administrative requirements.
The Director applies knowledge of business, competitive landscape, customer, and regulatory environment to business issues; demonstrating business impact, critical thinking, talent development, research innovation and organizational influence.
The Director leads their direct reports, project work teams, and research partners to create deliverables tailored to needs of Aetna stakeholders and senior management. The Director ensures that research findings are translated into clear business recommendations contributing to growth and financial performance objectives and insights are socialized in a way to ensure value in decision making or influence in the strategic planning process. The Director models/coaches direct reports, and others, on effective meeting facilitation, consultative and communication skills, and conclusion-based reports and read outs. They set and manage high standards of performance, and identify desirable professional development opportunities. Sets high standards for analytic and insight objectivity, data integrity and research ethics. Develops and inspires best in class disciplines for market research that strengthens Aetna s competitive advantage. Maintains industry connections, and represents Aetna in organizations/forums to attract talent and stay current on innovative approaches, best practices, and new research partners. In collaboration with leadership, allocates resources (people and budget) to priority initiatives that help Aetna deliver on objectives and strategy. Effectively directs and manages external research partners fiscally and to deliver against high standards and expectations; optimizes their contributions through collaboration and context setting with in-depth background on business issues and needs.
12+ years Client-Side Custom Market Research, Management Consulting, Ad/creative/innovation Agency, or Account Management research supplier.
Including 5+ years on Medicare, plus Medicaid and/or other govt health ins market research experience; and 5+ years direct report managerial experience.
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Bachelor's required (Marketing, Business, Communications, Statistics and Social Sciences). Masters preferred.
