Commercial Compliance is seeking a Sr. Compliance Consultant supporting the Central Territory. The successful candidate will provide support and guidance to ensure that all functions, operations and activities of the Central Territory are conducted in accordance with Company standards for business conduct and integrity, and all applicable laws and regulations.

Fundamental Components:

Fundamental Components include but are not limited to:

Working collaboratively with key business contacts and members of the Compliance & Regulatory Affairs team to identify potential compliance issues or gaps and ensure they resolved promptly;

Preparing routine compliance reports, and handling compliance inquiry responses with appropriate oversight by manager;

Managing multiple projects simultaneously, more complex matters are handled with oversight by manager;

Leading routine business process reviews and providing support for regulatory exams and inquiries;

May be responsible for leading a project team to oversee compliance activities;

May be responsible for coaching and providing training to business partners or other team members;

Developing and communicating routine compliance procedures;

Monitoring subsequent adherence to corrective action plans;

Providing oversight and support to help ensure the business area supports key compliance initiatives, manages risks identified and executes mitigation plans to minimize those risks

Reinforcing Aetnas commitment to compliance;

Building and maintaining effective relationships with various audience levels;

Escalating issues requiring resolution on a timely basis to manager;

Helping the business understand regulatory requirements; and

Conducting law and regulatory searches and effectively summarizing legal and regulatory requirements.


5+ years experience in a regulatory compliance position in healthcare, insurance or financial services. Strong communication skills, analytic skills and experience leading cross-functional business initiatives. Advanced degree and/or management experience desired Project management experience desiredExperience in risk management and/or compliance metrics is desirableExperience in managing cross-functional teams in a project is desirable


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Telework Specifications:

Various work locations within the Central Territory will be considered with preference given to Central Territory work locations where Aetna has a significant operations site. Telework considered only for current internal teleworkers with preference given for those living in the Central Territory.


This is a professional level position in Aetna's Compliance & Regulatory Affairs department. It offers an experienced compliance professional the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects while supporting the business units that deal directly with Aetna's members, providers, and customers. The successful candidate will be able to combine an understanding of insurance business operations with compliance expertise; will have strong compliance, regulatory and/or analytical experience and possess the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, ever changing business compliance environment. In addition, excellent verbal and written communication skills, independent thinking and creative problem solving are required. The ability to build relationships with internal colleagues in order to successfully lead and complete cross-functional compliance projects is highly desired.
