Direct a team of product managers for commercial business. Manage staffing planning and development activities, including selection and development of Product Managers and Product Analysts. Represent product issues and needs with senior managers cross-functionally

Fundamental Components:

Specific responsibilities include:

Direct product portfolio strategy development, design and performance monitoring

Drive product innovation as well as product enhancements of Aetnas commercial products to increase and retain profitable Aetna membership

Direct the detailed day to day development of new product portfolios and product portfolio refreshes

Ensure adherence to all benefit standards, department policies and compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations

Collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to manage product portfolio and deliver profitable growth, represent team with senior leaders cross-functionally

Drive continuous process improvements, compliance and barrier resolution

Motivate and lead team

Manage staff planning and development activities, including selection and development of new hires


10+ years of related healthcare industry experience. Medical Product experience.


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Leverage in-depth knowledge and understanding of products and market dynamics to drive effective product offerings to customers to meet organizational goals

Direct product analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of internal and external environmental influences and competitive pressures, incorporate results into product strategy development and on-going product performance monitoring, including key financial indicators

Ensure adherence to established quality standards, policies and procedures

Strengthen relationships with key business partners

Proactively lead identification and resolution of process gaps to improve quality and efficiency

Support of culture of continuous learning and improvement, focused on developing a best in class product management staff

Recruit and select well-qualified, diverse and talented product management staff

Encourage cross-functional collaboration to solve business issues and support project initiatives

Identify long term needs of the organization and establishes succession plans for key personnel

Maintain environment and reward system that encourages initiative, learning and empowerment

Articulate performance expectations and team objectives while collecting and interpreting balanced measures to evaluate team performance
