The Clinical analytics group uses an industry leading, scalable data platform and tools to glean insights from Aetnas large array of data sources, including medical claims, prescriptions, demographics, and surveys. From these insights and understanding of the business needs, you would manage and be responsible for the design and evaluation of innovative clinical initiatives and programs via a new clinical advocate model. You would act as a cross-functional team lead working with business stakeholders, other analytics groups, and data engineering to launch the new approach to care management. You would provide mentoring and guidance in the development of mathematical and statistical approaches to study design and evaluation with the goal of promoting better health and lower costs for our members. The work environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative, requiring quick learning, adaptability, and creativity. You would be part of a new and expanding team, with plenty of opportunities to interact with project stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Fundamental Components:

Develops complex algorithms and statistical predictive models and determines appropriate analytical approaches and/or modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes

Performs analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and complex business problems utilizing advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses and specialized expertise in the organization and/or industry.

Applies analytical rigor & statistical methods to analyze large amounts of data, using advanced statistical techniques

Manage large & complex analytical projects: data exploration, model building, performance evaluation & testing

Behaves as mentor to junior team members to provide technical advice

Collaborate w/business partners to develop technical/business approaches and new/enhanced technical tools.

Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions.


Deep knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources

SQL and database querying a must.

Expert level experience with SAS, SQL, Python, R, or HIVE.

Strong skills to effectively communicate and negotiate across the business and external health care environment

Demonstrates strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners

Strong organizational, management and leadership skills

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills


7-10 or more years of progressively complex related experience

Demonstrates proficiency in most areas of mathematical analysis methods, study design, randomization, stratification, statistical analyses, and matching techniques with advanced in-depth specialization in some areas.

Solid understanding of health care industry, products, and systems


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Master's degree.
