Design, develop, contract, maintain and enhance relationships with facilities, physicians and ancillary providers which serve as contractual networks of care for members; foster growth of managed care products; and enhance profitability of Aetna. Work to expand the Aetna Medicare network.
Accountable for all aspects of physician recruitment and contracting as well as ad/hoc network contracting, as assigned to include Medicare and commercial contract negotiations: Responsible for re-negotiating or negotiating solo, complex group, hospital-based and large entity physician contracts in support of network quality, availability and financial goals Participates in the strategic recruitment of physicians satisfying specific network goals and objectives Provides network development, maintenance and refinement activities and strategies in support of cross-market network management units Partners across the organization to garner support for network contracting activities to ensure all aspects of operational implementation are completed on a timely and accurate basis Fluently describes business operations, key trends, financial performance, regulatory factors and results against plan for area of accountability Uses deep insight into competitions strengths, weaknesses and strategies to drive decision-making Considers the end-to-end flow of the business and each areas contribution to Aetnas financial and competitive success Systematically shares information on best practices with colleagues and customers
Commercial and Medicare contracting experience is strongly preferred. Location in Virginia necessary for this position - Contractual negotiation experience with an understanding of provider services and contract language. - Excel at maintaining positive working relationships internally and externally
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
