Are you a communications professional with public relations and media experience looking to take your career to the next level? Aetna is looking for you! We have an exciting opportunity in our Local Markets business area for a Sr Media Communications Consultant to help develop our regional media relations strategy to expand and further develop our reputation and continue growth in this exciting industry.
Office based preference in our Chicago, IL office but open to majority of our Aetna offices throughout the country including TX, CO, UT, AZ, TN, GA, AL, FL, NC, CT, NY)
Develop and execute a comprehensive proactive regional media relations strategy that aligns with enterprise priorities; coverage area will be one-third of the country. In each measureable, market-specific plan, use regional/local assets leadership, business and other partners, including Aetna Foundation and other corporate social responsibility activities, Government Affairs, Marketing, etc. as appropriate to bolster the companys reputation and encourage additional business growth. Partner with enterprise business leads to understand our evolving priorities, and if/how they would resonate in target markets.
Identify and engage stakeholders both internal and external whose support is needed to accomplish goals.
Establish and/or continue to develop relationships with members of the media who will influence public perception of the company.
Develop communications strategies and plans using best practices, innovative ideas and audience insights.
Ensure consistent messaging in all communications, and demonstrate strategic understanding of channels like social media in relation to communications needs.
Manage agency relationship(s) at the regional/local level.
Establish a system of measurement that captures market-specific results, while identifying best practices and areas for improvement.
7 10 years in a public relations role; corporate and/or agency experience a plus.
Experience as a company spokesperson.
Experience developing and executing successful communications programs.
Proven track record of proactively identifying and pursuing relevant opportunities that resulted in increased audience awareness and understanding of core message(s).
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with other communication professionals toward a common goal.
Requires advanced knowledge and specialized expertise in at least one communication discipline and experience in one of several sub-disciplines (may include media/public relations, internal/executive communications, public affairs, and marketing or community relations).
Experience developing and executing successful communication programs at the enterprise level or for major business organization
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
